MLB should force the A's to sell.

In fact, I think if any major league team moves cities (significant, not like Warriors going across the Bay) then it is a striking failure of that ownership group. They should not be allowed to rip a team from its city/fans and duplicate the scenario in another market.

The whole moving of sports teams is an American phenomena. Imagine Liverpool or Real Madrid moving 500 miles away. Never would happen. Because the team is interwoven with the city.

Yes, of course because anyone that goes into a business venture and puts their capital at risk should be forced by others with little skin in the game (other that a mostly emotional one) to behave the way they feel is right. All businesses should be restricted in such a manner.

The MLB owners have not even voted yet, so it remains to be seen. With public sentiment clearly nor supporting, and a teachers union SUPER PAC, pushing for a public vote. The move is far from set it stone.

PHX had a climate controlled dome too. It was still miserable until about the 7th inning, when the collective 10,000 AC units finally had an effect.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. I think it's a pipe dream to believe the A's have any chance of staying in Oakland. Maybe you can find an op-ed claiming the vote will go the other way. I doubt that's going to happen.

From my perspective, it’s a technicality at this point, given all that has transpired the past several years; Fisher has been working with the Commissioner (who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer) as well as other owners in terms of preparation. Keep in mind he’s owned the team for almost twenty years, and the need for a modern stadium (or negotiation relative to such) is nothing new.

Oakland is an unsafe mess.
This morning I watched the news about shop owners going on strike because they are paying taxes and have no protection for them, their employees or their customers.
Just where are their taxes being diverted to ?
I say good for them, go on strike.
Apparently it seems that is the best way to be heard.
The news station also showed video people getting dragged out of their cars for no reason other than to be robbed in front of their families and other people getting beat badly in shop robberies gone wrong.
If they can’t take proper care of their small shop owners why would someone (like a major league franchise) think that they could take care of the needs of something more substantial?
It sounds like if you need help here “you are on your own because there is no one is coming to help you”.
Who wants any of this?

Heck Tijuana shops are safer than this.
Once again the area has become a mess.

I thought it was always astounding when you got an ariel view of the Arizona Cardinals field when they played the Vikings or the Packers. There always looked like there was more purple or green and gold than there was red in the stadium. All those snowbirds.

This looks even worse.

Although Mark Davis may whine a bit, somehow I'm thinking he's not shedding too many tears over it (in fact, he's probably laughing all the way to the bank).

The valuation of the Raiders continues to rise in Las Vegas, with the Silver and Black now worth $6.2 billion, making them the sixth-most valuable team in the NFL.

The Raiders have come a long way from 2015, when they were 31st in the 32-team NFL in these rankings.

A great example of the value of having a franchise in a place like Vegas (vs Oakland) that will obviously attract many more visiting fans than any stadium in the league (who wouldn't want to see a game mixed in with a fun vacation...it will be the same for the A's).

Issues like these are the type that bitter fans bring up. Most business people however would be thrilled.

Only went to one Athletics game. Weekday afternoon game.

It was the day after they traded Mark McGuire. Cost a dollar to get in. Had my own section to sit in.
