Wow, what a let down. This was my first year back in San Diego for baseball season and I have to say it was quite disappointing. Not one name on the field sounds familiar to me at all. I have seen better games watching the Temecula Storm minor league outfit.

But on the upside, Petco is still one of the best ballparks in the nation. The food was good but spendy. I ate at a place called Hodads and the burger was first rate, and a beer was pushing double digits. There was a nice ceremony honoring law enforcement at the beginning of the game and fireworks after.

So, I got the tickets from a work package so the price was decent. The wife seemed to enjoy it, basically because she doesn't understand baseball. I heard somewhere "baseball is like church, lots of people go; but not everyone understands it".

San Diego has so many other things going on, I don't know how much people will put up with this team. I'll go to an occasional game, just because I like baseball and the atmosphere. San Diego was duped. Moores got his stadium and development deal and we got a minor league team. Please someone with some money buy this team.

Just venting I guess.

The Padres are in the process of being sold. They have a top rated farm system and rich TV deal in place.

Give it two or three years and they will be in contention for a pennant.

Agreed on PETCO. That stadium is nicer than I ever envisioned.

It's been a whopping four games so far. If this continues until May, then there is a problem. But until there's a large enough sample size to make judgements, let's all calm down.

Headley was 0-12 until the eighth inning of today's game. Then he jacked a slam and now he's on a pace for 162 RBI. I'll make a bold prediction. Headley won't hit below .100 and he won't get 162 RBI.

I have to ask why you posted a question about the Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles in the San Diego forum?

Well we are in June and the padres have the worst record in MLB. Now i just watch for the spectacle of it, like watching a daily occurring train wreck. But hey, who cares, the weather is great and the beauty of San Diego is there is always something to do.

Yeah, and it's because, well, they've had to use minor league players on a major league field. Way too many people have had to be called up due to injuries. Even the Yankees cannot have 13 people, or more than half their 25 man roster, on the DL without suffering. With the Padres? They're really gonna suck.

And they do.
