Seriously, it seems to me that the majority of people I meet that have moved here from someplace else and complain about the place the most about Texas are from California!

As a "transplant" myself, we relocated to Texas with the attitude that we would assimilate ourselves into the rich culture and heritage that exists here. As a matter of fact, that is what drew us here.

But for some reason there's many Californians who feel this place needs changing, and to be honest that is what sticks in my craw!

I've been to California and it's a lovely place, but it's not without its problems and instead of accepting and appreciating Texas, many Left Coasters want to repeat the same mistakes that were made there.

I am not saying all Californians are like this, I've met many folks who've moved here from there that are gun enthusiasts and are overjoyed to have escaped the Draconian laws they have out there. Or they realize how much better the economy is here, especially the housing market, and are grateful. But there are still many who can’t resist the urge to badmouth things here. One in particular was especially annoying, but that person has made their way back to their beloved homeland and I do hope they are happy there!

Sure, San Antonio is not without its faults; but it is still a great place to live and many of us transplants have fully adopted it as our new home. It is one of the most friendly and welcoming places I have come across in my world travels and the folks here treat everyone as a friend as long as they show a little respect for the place. Unfortunately, there just seems to be an inordinate number of people from California who still feel it important to express their negative views despite this warm reception; and I find that to be simply rude…

Again, this doesn’t apply to all Californians who move or visit here; it is just that they seem to be the most obvious critics of the place!

Cheers! M2

Just curious, but what are some of the things that the Californians you've met felt "needed changing"? I'm an ex-Los Angeleno as well and I see NOTHING that needs changing in San Antonio, except for the crime rate and coming traffic exacerbation, but it's not that much worse than anywhere else, thank goodness. It's still a wonderful place to live.

He asked, and this forum is filled with threads on restaurants, stores, etc. in California that we "need" in Texas.

I've even met numerous people from that state who felt that the gun laws here were "too loose." I don't know if you've done any research on what California gun laws are; but it would make you wonder if they had actually read the Second Amendment!

And honestly I am sick and tired of hearing how much more expensive houses are there, especially when they don't realize that just because homes cost more doesn't mean they are worth more!

All in all, I always wonder why if it is so great in California, why is everyone leaving?

Sorry, but it's the one state that has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Construction quality there from what I've seen for an average house there vs. average house here is a step way down from SA. IMO anyway.

I'm not a native of Los Angeles, but lived there for 15 years. I miss it greatly, but don't miss the high costs and crowds.

Moved to San Antonio from San Diego County, then moved back after our family issues were done with. Couldn't wait to move back. People were nice there, but very weak minded. The place had a plethora of issues as well. Hope you're happy there though.

i think we already know what you think. you spend a lot of time on a forum for a city that you dont live in anymore and claim to hate. really, i hope you are happy where you are. we could do without the negativity here.

You are free to utilize the ignore function anytime you wish. Otherwise, tough! I could care less what you think.
I post on the SA forum (yes, because I can and I still have one rental there) maybe 5 times per week. If that's what you call "spending a lot of time" well...ok.

PS- So there isn't any doubt, I am happy where I am.
