True. It's not as if the Wasatch Range is some obscure mountain range. And we're talking about a weatherman, someone who ought to be knowledgeable in weather patterns and how they are affected by large bodies of water and mountain ranges. Anyway, I thought it was funny to hear "Wachack Mountains," but it also kind of annoyed. It probably wasn't really worth being annoyed over, though.

What's even worse is when local news people that have been around the area for YEARS do it. I remember quite some back a San Antonio personality say something about the Ver-a-ZON ampitheater. Took me a minute to figure out what the hell he was talking about. Verizon was a very established outfit at that point.

Yeah, locals really have no excuse.

That reminds me of when I called the Utah Travel Council and asked if they could send me some information on Zions National Park. That's all the information I gave him, and this was in the days prior to caller ID, so when he said, "I'm sorry, but you'll have to come up here and pick up the information yourself. We're not permitted to mail packets out to locals," I wondered how on earth he knew I was a local. He said, "I knew because you asked for information on Zions, and the name of the park is Zion. Somehow out-of-staters seem to know that but locals don't. It took me a while to change over from Zions to Zion, but I finally did it. I actually had a coworker call Bryce "Bryce's" and that really made me laugh.
