west warwick, north providence and johnston...what do you think the rammifications would be? I think its what needs to be done because there are so many areas in those towns I just mentioned that are just wasted space. If Providence could take that land and cultivate it into a true city, without erasing too much of the residential areas already established in those towns, we could attract a lot more businesses and more money in general.
Unfortunately I cant see this happening since the city is so old and established its tough to build around or in these old neighborhoods. I mean, I love Providence the way it is but I would also love to see it grow into a major city. And its not like NP and Johnston have so much going on that they couldnt easily be absorbed into Providence. Hey, just some food for thought. What do you guys think?

Horrible idea, although I would not be opposed to seeing parts of Eastern Cranston absorbed by Providence.

Providence, North Providence, Pawtucket, Central Falls and East Providence could probably all benefit from one common local government.

Pawtucket has too much of a history for it to ever lose its identity and become part of Providence, I think. But yea, you may as well just call it Providence.

Link up as many communities as possible with adequate public and alternative transportation and you will have a dynamic metro area.

I know that Toronto, Canada had done exactly what the OP has suggested but I really don't see the point of it other than making the city look statistically bigger.

Just what we need, Providence corruption on a grander scale and more power for the ones in charge. No thanks.
