Jamestown is simply a fine place to live. Formerly, just a nice Rhode Island town. But, a few years ago it became a convenient "island with bridges" in the mindset of rich outsiders. When that happened, real estate values rose to and remain the second highest in the state. As stated, only behind Block Island.
As for democratic leaders, hedge funders, billionaires & others; for anybody seeking a degree of privacy in Rhode Island (without the inconvenience of Block Island) it has apparently become an ideal place to live. Assuming you can afford the price of entry. However, for many, a house in town is one where they may only summer for a few months. It becomes a bit of a ghost town in the winter.

The party of "equity" and "inclusion"? Seriously though, nothing wrong with enjoying the perks of being at the top of the capitalist heap. Nothing at all. Nobody waved a wand over my crib entitling me to the same stuff as everybody else.
If you look at the demographics of the top universities and walk around a biotech company, tech company, or financial company, it's now skewed significantly East Asian and South Asian. A significant fraction of the people accumulating wealth now in the United States aren't white. They'll all be buying vacation homes. It's pretty easy to project that affluent New Yorkers and Bostonians will continue to buy up Rhode Island coastal real estate and a big chunk of those won't be white.

Lots of lucky sperm club members making Jamestown home these days. Regardless, most would still say it remains rather unpretentious, as such summer places go. Most of the Range Rovers are well worn.

This is just a click bait article written by someone who is trying to discredit Democrats. Wealthy people are wealthy people regardless of political party- what else is new?
