Sounds about right to me. Bay State roads are abysmal and Rhode Island's are below that. I've never seen a state with more roads dug up and not resurfaced. Rhode Islanders are so used to bouncing up and down in their cars that they even do it on smooth roads.

If Mass is 4th worst & RI is worst, the gap between the 2 must be enormous. You can almost tell, with your eyes closed, when you pass from RI to MA on the same local paved road. Our roads are inexcusable. I don't think I have a rim on 2 cars that's true round.
Maybe covid interrupted the supply chain of asphalt. But only in Rhode Island. And let's not rule out the Census Bureau having a hand in it. We know how they can be.
I put on a sports bra when we have to drive anywhere here.
