Has anyone used a reliable and resonable company to transport a car from Rhode Island to Florida?

And what's the deal about putting things in the car? Two companies said we could not put anything in the car. My in-laws would load the car to the gills each year when they shipped to Florida--what has changed?

I have used Chips Transport in Walpole, MA over 200 times (I used to arrange transport for car dealerships). Very professional and competitively priced. Call 508-660-8900. It has been a couple of years, but I believe Rick or John are still there and can assist. They will not allow the car to be loaded with items. This is due to the liability of items being stolen while the truck is parked.

Chips is a reputable company or you can look up DMI Transport out of Pt Charlotte FL or Budget Auto Transport out of Hudson FL. Both are owner operators who are experienced and reputable also.

The deal with items in the car: Years ago auto carriers could haul anything which would be designated as a "common goods" carrier. When they changed us to Auto Carrier Only, it took away the right to carry personal items in the cars.

Many carriers will still allow items in the cars but their insurance will not cover items and you ship those items at your own risk. No carrier wants a car packed to the gills and for several good reasons:
Overweight fines in each state they drive through. Possible damage to the underside of the vehicle and the trailer as well as making it harder to load and unload the truck. Drivers have very little room for error and they need to be able to see out of ALL the windows. Have you ever tried to back up on a narrow ramp when you cannot see behind you? (No, Back up cameras do NOT help).
