How much do you pay for home cleaning services and how big is your house? And where do you live?
We did not have our cleaner come since Covid in March, and felt comfortable to have her clean since Sept. i continued to send her check for the full amount every two weeks during that time. Today she asked me for a raise.
It is two of us, 4 bed, 2.5 bath, 2500 SF.
I am wondering what the going rate is where you live.
Thanks

Am I understand this correctly? She hasn't cleaned your house since March but she cleaned again in Sept and Oct and now she wants a raise even though you paid her for all the weeks she didn't clean due to covid?

I recently just got rid of my service every other week 100$ per cleaning. Three bedroom 2 bath 1700 sq ft. There are 3 in household and they did not clean my son's room. Since I retired I figured I had the time to clean and do a way better job.

The rate I've paid in Raleigh, NC is $40-$50/hour.

I stopped my cleaning service due to covid and having an elderly dog that stressed out when they were here.
It was a husband and wife, I paid them $100 each visit which was every other week. House is 1850 sq ft.
I’m in Northern California.
How much are you paying?

Wages are actually going up now, so she's not out of line to ask for or to charge more.

My paycheck is going up by 30% next month, and a standard annual increase next march will mean an extra 10% above that 30%.

You also have a house double the size of a "typical mid century" house @2500sqft.

And lastly, if you don't like her rate, call around to other cleaning services and see if you get a better deal or if they charge more than her requested raise.

Remember, covid-19 us still a risk. And her health insurance may have gone up, mine is slated to go up 12% this year.

And finally, do you provide cleaning products? Or does she? Those costs have gone up due to covid-19 too.

And, BTW, my best friend cleans houses...at a rate of $100/1000-1200 sqft, so he'd charge you $200/session, but he will also do the bedding laundry.

Best to you....

I have an 1800 sq foot house - 3 bedrooms/2 baths. It’s just the two of us, and we are very neat. Our cleaner comes every other week and charges us $60/visit. It takes her a little less than 2 hours to clean it. We also did not have come during the lockdown, but paid her. She started back in July. I could do it myself, but I don’t want to. We live in small college town in central VA.

Yes, i am thinking over all this. She does a good job when i point things out to her. I also give her a bonus of one visit at year end. She brings her supplies and also uses mine. I googled the going rate of raises and 3 to 6 % seems the norm. I am thinking of offering 5%.
I cannot afford your guy at $200.

I think she is being greedy asking for a raise after you continued to pay her for months while she wasn’t doing a thing.

To answer your question, I pay $145 for a 1900 sf townhouse for a once monthly deep clean. They do an excellent job - two women taking about 2.5 hours. They bring all their own supplies, and, if i want, also change the linens. I live in an affluent suburb of a major East Coast city.

P.S. it is through a service, which typically charges more. But this way, I don’t have to worry about the social security withholding stuff.
