A small light in the living room is on a timer.

And....if you have any small area rugs in your abode, be it in the entryway, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, get rid of 'em, *especially* if you have fallen -or- if you use any assistive device like a walker. I removed and threw away the filthy and stained entryway rug my mother had in her apartment when I was visiting a week ago. Besides looking gross, it's a hazard since she uses a walker.

My aunt tripped over the small rug or mat she had in her kitchen and fell backwards, 3 weeks ago. Still in pain, thinks she broke her tailbone. That's the 5th time she's fallen in as many years, and the fire department had to come to lift her off the floor. She has to use a walker at all times and if she doesn't....down she goes. Last time she fell in her bedroom, broke 3 areas of her arm and shoulder, and laid on the floor for 8 hrs until she was found. She wasn't wearing her Life Alert pendant at the time (was charging it). That ended with major surgery to repair the breaks and a several week stay in rehab.

I just got a "because it is Spring" present from Amazon. A bright red mini auger which attached to a drill. Sturdy! I have about 250 gladiola bulbs ready to get planted. Only SO would think of something like that.

We have kept a nightlight on in our bedroom for years. I would prefer to sleep in the dark, but hubby insists, so it stays on.

I do like this grabber item. Saves our backs and knees. We have them in multiple places in the house. Bought one for my brother and he used it the same day! This particular one has a magnet on the end, which is very handy for picking up metal items. I also like this brand, which is very sturdy. Some of the cheapie ones that are sold are not very well made.

I didn't link to the Amazon page, because there were complaints that the item arrived broken. Not surprised.
