If you move to an area where your Medicare Advantage Plan does not provide service, then you have a Guaranteed Issue Right to obtain a Medigap Plan.
“An insurance company:
Must sell you a Medigap policy
Must cover all your pre-existing health conditions
Can't charge you more for a Medigap policy because of past or present health problems”
Note that there is not a Guaranteed Issue Right to buy Plans M or N in this situation, but there is a Guaranteed Issue Right to buy the popular Plan G (and Plan G-HD).
I've lived in 3 states and kept my medgap plan throughout. Mine covers everything, and is easy to deal with.
Advantage plans are often localized, so you lose them if you move.
That's one of the few ways you can switch from an Advantage plan to Medigap, though you can go the other way without restriction.
