I heard you have to request that they don't automatically back up your SS six months (that they always assume you want six months of retro pay unless you specify to calculate it as of when you apply).

Looking further in to it , no you are not automatically calculated to get six months retro …

There is a box you can check to get six months retro , but if you do they recalculate your benefit as if you filed six months sooner for life

I wouldn't go back 6 months unless I was 6 months over 70.
