Oh, Curm, I am so sorry. I knew that you two were back together in your Ozarks hideaway, and I hate your time together has been cut short. Please know that I sympathize. Please take care of yourself as you grieve. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Curmudgeon, I'm sorry for your sudden loss. I think it must be especially difficult to come to grips when you haven't been expecting it.

Please know that I send wishes for gentle and healing grieving. I offer my ear and it sounds like you have many friends here who feel the same.

For those who remember me I am sorry to report that my dear, beloved and most cherished wife of the best 20.5 years of my life passed away early this morning from almost instant-onset pneumonia and related complications.

We had been appropriate, work-only friends for five years before I first asked her out and I admired and respected her greatly. I still do. Over the years I loved her completely. I still do. Thankfully, she knew that.

For those of you in good relationships/marriages, hang onto them and never take them for granted. Most of us retirees are of an age when things can happen unexpectedly and swiftly. Never fail to take an opportunity to express your love. You might lose it without warning.
Gosh. So sorry.

I had noticed you had not posted in a long while, and this is not the update I was expecting when I read your thread title.
I am truly sorry to hear it.

An apt reminder, one that I will heed. Thank you.

Curmie, I am shocked and saddened to hear that your wife lost her battle with pneumonia. Sixty-eight is way too young. My heart goes out to you. May the love that you had for each other give you strength at this difficult time.
