I couldn't open the LA Daily News website but found a database of Los Angeles county salaries on the LA Times website. It was 547 pages long with about 70 employees per page, not by name but by department and position. There were a good number of attorneys and engineers. Some departments paid more than others e.g., airport and port authority? seemed to be high paying. But there were also many workers who made between $40-80K a year. The Fire Department and Police Department had some high salaries, particularly for supervisors. Many of the regular policemen and firefighters made $90-100K a year but there were those who made $50-80K. However most of the civilians in the Police Department had relatively low wages and there were lots of them. It was a mixed bag but many of the salaries did not seem to be extravagant for this high cost of living area.

So, they snuck one over on the actuaries? Oops, we forgot to tell you we weren't contributing anything. Hardly.

What are you talking about. It was well documented that the State of NJ did not make the required contributions.

What I was referring to was the investment earnings.
