I remember Christmas' of years past when i considered myself an
atheist ; this Season was emotionally painful as it didnt have any
purpose or meaning other than getting a few wrapped gifts from family
in addition to hitting the beer as another excuse to get drunk.
Mustering up some joy was a very daunting task because back then, I
couldnt just turn it off and on ; it never felt right. Im so very
glad that I can experience the true meaning of Christmas which reveals
our Creators love for us in sending his own Son to this darkened World
so we can be reconciled to God based on Jesus' sacrificial
historically verified death and ressurection. He said if we believe
in him and what he did for us, then we too will beat death which must
come to all of us. To be absent from this physical body, is to be at
home with God ... for those who love him and desire him ; think of
the horrendous crime it is to keep on refusing to acknowledge the very
Creator of the Universe -- what greater act of pride and rebellion
could there possibly be ? All so we can live as we like for a few
short earthly years ??? What an enormous waste and self centered
motive. If youre finding yourself wrapped up in this.... you can break free by celebrating what Christmas is truly all about --- The Creator making himself known , personally, by coming to the very Planet he created so we could have a place to call hom. He is knowable, and Christmas will take you there....IF you will allow.

I suppose it's a good thing I'm not wrapped up in that. As an atheist and an ex-Christian, my Christmases have been *far* better once I put the focus where it belongs, on my family and friends. But you know something, that's me. If it doesn't work for you, that's fine. Where is it written that we all must find joy the same way?
Whatever it means to you and however you celebrate it, Merry Christmas.

Nice post. But I have only one response. There is no relief or freedom to beat shedding the burden of Blind Faith. Once one has done that, one can never go back.
I can only suppose that you were never a 'real atheist'.
