Hey, I will admit to not hating any of those categories of people. I oppose them, vigorously, to be sure, because they perpetrate great harms; but to do that effectively doesn't require (and isn't helped by) actual hatred.

I think people are way too fast to equate disagreement with hatred, the subtext being, anything but mindless equanimity is dysfunctional. Which is handy when you don't want to be personally annihilated ... er, disagreed with. Yeah people equate someone not affirming them 110% with personal annihilation, too.

On the other hand I don't think we have to get pedantic at the use of the term. When Indiana Jones said, "Nazis ... I hate those guys" it doesn't mean that he laid awake nights getting eaten alive by it. He probably just saw them as toxic. So if someone walks into a trap by saying something of the form "I hate it when Christians do X", that's probably not a great choice of words but doesn't mean literal hatred, either.

For me it would depend on how one defines 'hate'. For me personally -- that my view of them wants them to be hurt badly. So Nazi leaders...yes, I would say I hate them. Same for leaders of the KKK, for example.

Me? I am pointing out the flaw in YOUR argument about hatred, that people who hate Nazis, wife beaters, and religious terrorists must do so because they are ignorant about the nature of their essential self.

YOUR argument about hate. I am just once again taking your argument and exposing it to the light of reality. Come into the light, CB, your fantasy world is irrational.

That you need to once again misrepresent is amusing.

I agree, from actual hatred to intense dislike to simply me not liking peas. I have said I hate peas without actually hating peas.

But I used that word in my post because CB specifically made a nonsense claim about hate.

I know, but believers often play "gotcha" word games around certain terms like "hate" so I felt it necessary to mention. Other words many of them like to abuse and rob of any nuance are "faith" and "belief" and "theory".
