Why do Christians claim descent from Judaism yet ignore the above?...

Simple. The expectations of the Israelites are NOT the basis for determining what IS and IS NOT a prophecy. The actual events and circumstances themselves subsequent to the purported prophecies validate what is and what is not a prophecy. That is WHY they missed the Messiah and rejected Jesus.
