catholic priest skull cap (church, priests, quote, bishop)

recently on one of the online news site, newly elected pope Francis wore white skull cap and one cardinal wore red colored one but i was told that the varieties of it color is more than that? can somebody tell me which other varieties of color do the cap comes with? who wear which? thank u

The color basically denotes rank.

Usually just the Pope wears a white "zucchetto", a cardinal would wear a red one and other priests would wear black

Pope's wear white skullcaps, and basically a white cassock.
Cardinals wear a red skullcap, and black an red cassock, or a red mozzeta with a choir dress. Cardinals wear red to signify that they are willing to die for the church.
Bishops wear a violet, lighter shade of purple skullcap and black and purple lined cassock. They also wear a purple mozzeta and choir dress, somewhat like the cardinal.

Priest,often just wear black. I've never seen a priest with a skullcap.
