It can be read cover to cover in One Year by reading every day for 35 minutes without interruptions. I have done it 3 years this way. Amazing - what happens after; God by His Grace speaks to us through His Living Word. I encourage you.

Very simplistic command. The Bible can be interpreted many, many ways and used for good or evil. It's also very difficult to read, especially if you have no understanding of its history, translations, context, etc. It's not a magical book.

I think a pre requisite to hearing the living word while reading it is believing in Gods. I didn't hear Santa's living word either after reading "A Christmas Carol" but, I did get the moral message the writer was trying to convey.

The bible is a guide book for the religious. I agree with the other poster, nothing magical about it. It's clearly on a human level. IMO, of course.

I did my best to read the bible from cover to cover every month for about 45 years and after much prayer I found the truth and left Christianity to follow the teachings of Jesus(as).

Even as a non-believer, the Bible still has a lot of value IMO. Except why does the command to ''Obey'' usually seem to travel right along with it..?

I've never found it difficult to read. But, I found it's predecessor even more interesting. And, much more complete.

I don't really find that very "Amazing"
However if you read the Pali canon (Tripitaka) in one year I'd be impressed.

I did read it. Give me Ayn Rand or James Joyce anyday. There are many other books out there, and from what I have read, most of them are better than the Bible.

Actually, I found Lord of The Rings to be far better organized than The Bible, which I dallied with when I was a Christian! It obviously hired much more accomplished and logical continuity editors. (Not to mention it's superior interest and spiritual ideals...)

Now as for Ayn Rand? She's a bit of a headache.. PS: I'm still struggling with Atlas Shrugged! As well, it's still a lot more interesting than The Bible...
