WHERE IS THE MAN?
A good jeff-question?
Interesting...the sort of question I like. I would say that is very likely, but it's all speculation 2000 years after the fact.

Or might that explain why they all left, "eldest to youngest"............ *ahem*
They came to Jesus shouting that they had found her in the very act so naturally the crowd heard. Jesus more than likely did not write, "where's the man" instead he began to write their sins in the sand. They left "eldest to youngest" because the older folks has more sins to account then the younger folks. But I do agree with Jeff that it's all speculation really.

Interesting.
I need to go back and revisit the story of Hezekiah in the OT. I once heard quite a convincing argument that the things written by the 'hand-writing on the wall' to Hezekiah were, quite probably, the same thing Christ wrote in the sand.
It's all speculation, of course, but the sybolism of those things for Hezekiah would have been the same symbolism Christ very well might have used.

I agree with this...and it's all speculation...as you said.
I'm not Greek scholar, but I once listened to a lecture on these verses by a man who was. He claimed that in the original Greek Jesus says, "He that is without THIS sin may cast the first stone."
I have no idea what Jesus wrote. "Where is the man?" is as good a guess as any. The short of it is that this was a set-up from the beginning, and Jesus knew it.
