Hi All,

My wife and I are working very hard to foster a child who currently lives in Tucson, AZ. It is a long process, but it looks like everything is going to work out. He will be turning 16 years old in April, and is currently in 10th grade.

My questions are:
  • How is it determined which school he will attend?
  • If we would like for him to attend a different school than the one he would normally be assigned to based on where we live, is there a way to enroll him in a different school?
  • Will he need to take placement tests (he is currently taking ESL classes, but is very frustrated by the slow pace, and would like to be "mainstreamed").

Thank you!
Carlos

Go to wcpss.net and do the address finder which will tell you your base assignment. If you don’t like that you can apply for others but it’s probably too late for next year.

The level of ESL support is determined by how students score on the ACCESS test. Parents can opt out of ESL classes. However, if that is the level of support needed, that's probably not a good idea.
