Can't really speak to the holistic approach, but we take our dog to Southpoint and love it, never feel like they're pushing medicine, treatment, etc. when it's not necessary & pricing always seems to be fair. I had to go to Park Veterinary Hospital in Durham one time when I needed a last minute appointment and left feeling really unsatisfied and screwed over when the bill came.
With a prior dog on Phoenix, I used a vet who practiced traditional and holistic techniques. That approached saved my dog after two other vets told me to put her down. So I get and appreciate the value of holistic treatments.
But I'd never go strictly holistic - for myself, my family or my pets.
That said, I love the approach of Bayleaf. They regularly suggest over the counter treatments instead of drugs (frequent diarrhea in the dog? Try yogurt or canned pumpkin in his food instead of expensive prebiotic pills. If it gets really bad, buy some pro-pectin from Amazon.) I've got a remarkably healthy 14 year old rescue mutt. Instead of the usual every six month senior checkup that vets push, these people say bring him in once a year unless you see a problem.
Plus - MUCH cheaper than the previous vet near my home in BCCC (who sucked).
I am skeptical of 100% holistic veterinary care ever since my vet in NJ put my 15-year-old cat on homeopathic "immune system boosters" when she came down with a serious upper respiratory infection. Not only did she not get better, but she ended up with severe pemphigus -- an autoimmune disease characterized by oozing sores all over her eyes, ear flaps, nose, paw pads, and anus. Because she was already on prednisone for IBD, there was nothing to be done.
To me, integrative care is far better. It strikes a balance between conventional care and alternative treatments based on actual research, not woo-woo.
Dr. Bowman & Dr. Deresinski at Bowman Animal Hospital off Creedmoor Rd. in N. Raleigh both do holistic. We have seen both of them numerous times over the last 15 years and they are a great mix of holistic & traditional medicine, if that is what you're looking for. Their prices aren't the cheapest but they give great care.
