I don't see another video on that Twitter feed K4GPB — can you link directly to the tweet instead of the N&O reporter's feed?
I don't see any reason for a police officer to body slam a high school girl. He had her in a hold — isn't he trained enough to restrain her without body slamming?
But it's worth noting that the girl who was slammed to the floor by the officer doesn't appear to be one of the two girls shown as fighting in the video.
I just can't understand why these videos *never* show what happened in the moments before the incident.
That being said, I don't see how this could possibly be acceptable.
I agree I would like to see what happened first....but this girl is tiny. I'm thinking my 12 year old could restrain her without a tackle. That said if you're in the melee and the SRO hasn't seen the incident from the get-go, isn't it kind of hard for him to know who the first participants were? I wouldn't want to get in the middle of that - nothing worse than a girl fight!
Mom is behaving like expected - her older daughter was in the fight, but no word of any accountability there.
I'm sick and tired of police officers using excessive force. They should fire that officer. There's no excuse for him body slamming a girl (who was trying to break up the fight) who must weigh 100 pounds soaking wet. The principal or vice principal (in the tie) comes in and breaks up the actual fight without body slamming anyone.
I'm not a law enforcement apologist by any stretch of anyone's imagination, but I'm reluctant to jump to a conclusion based on a snippet of video. Also, regardless of training, sometimes in a tense and possibly dangerous moment it's necessary to go to an extreme to regain control.
Let's get all the facts before ending someone's career.
