Hi there,
Have you seen us around town lately? We’re the ones with hard hats and dirt stains on our clothes.
Over the last few months, our team has been drawing up blueprints for our new fiber network in the Triangle. But that was just the start.
We're doing some heavy lifting – literally – to bring Google Fiber to communities throughout the Triangle. There are crews working on the streets with boom trucks, tunnel boring machines, and rolls of cables as we form the foundation of our network.

In the meantime, here’s a look at what we’re up to:
it went on to show pictures. Seeems like they are releasing a lot of info today, that has to be a good sign, right?
Just for comparison, Google Fiber started construction in Austin in July 2014. The first neighborhoods were able to sign-up in December 2014. People in those neighborhoods started getting service installed in January 2015.
I received the email to check my address to see when I could start signing up. Entered in the information, was sent to another page to check my address. Then was told it wasnt available in my area yet, but asked for my email address to notify me of updates. They already had my email address to notify me in the first place !!!!! Probably will hold off renewing with DirecTV hoping I can switch early next year.
I received the email too. So they are past the planning stage and are actively laying fiber, very cool indeed. I can happily limp along with TWC until they are ready, be it year-end or beyond.

Come to think of it, I have seen crews around town, but I didn't really give much thought to what they were doing. I've seen crews in Regency Park. Can't remember where else I've seen them.
I've seen crews with directional drilling equipment installing the orange utility lines (pictured in the article) along Falls River Avenue in the North Raleigh Falls River neighbrhood for the past few weeks.
I'm about 95% sure th picture from the emails is this street in Morrisville, which is within sight ofwhere the Town Council approved a fiber hut location a couple weeks or a month ago.
