It's good to see that AA is investing in a daily flight from RDU to Los Angeles so West Coast trips can be made direct rather than via Dallas or Chicago on American. After all the routes they shut down in recent years let's hope that a few more direct flights will be reinstated once AA gets out of bankruptcy
Press release from AA states the plane that will be used for the flight is a 737-800. I was hoping to have another large jet frequent RDU. I guess I'll just have to be content with the 767 from London.

The airlines refer to this as non-stop. "Direct" means you don't have to change planes, which to me doesn't seem to be very direct.
Interesting to see. I know the DL and AA were having a fare war on the RDU->LAX route earlier this year, with DL flying direct and AA through DFW. Flights were down to $240 round-trip; it will be interesting to see if the increase in non-stop seats lower the prices even more.
Weekend trips to Los Angeles just got a little better....I personally dont like paying $400 and up for a roundtrip ticket when I fly to the west coast.
