They are black and green and make lots of noise. I was trying to cut the grass and they were dive bombing me!

I live in Massachusetts near Cape Cod. Last night i saw what appears to be one of these, it scared the heck out of me it was so large. I could see its frog like eyes blinking! No discernable antenna and long clear wings close the the body. It was late and difficult to get a good picture but i did manage to take a little video. I was even brave enough to open the door and get a backside shot. When it flew away it went so fast i couldn't even tell which direction it went, no sounds. FYI: it was a warm humid night and it was on my screen door. I have lived in the south pacific and florida and never have i seen anything like this!

I have seen a few in Holly Springs, but thankfully not many. When I lived in DC we had like some 15 year cycle, you had to sweep them off the side walks to make room to walk. It was biblical.

Our lab likes to pick them up with her mouth, and she looks very guilty but isn't crunching. Then we say, "What are you doing?" and she opens her mouth and the very loud cicada comes flying out. It's happened more than a couple of times.
