We are looking at an apartment near the intersection of NW Maynard and High House Road in Cary. Is this near (ie walking distance) any major landmarks, ie schools, police stations, grocery stores, shopping complexes? Anyone have comments on the area? Thanks so much!

Hey, I used to live on the corner or NW Maynard and Harrison just down the road a bit. There is plenty to do in that area! I can't help with schools because I don't have kids but there is a Lowes foods and Bond Park (lake, fields, playgrounds, walking trails) is right on high house. There is a greenway right off Harrison and Dynasty Drive that leads to lake crabtree which is a gorgeous walk. There is plenty of shopping at strip malls nearby and Cary has a mall, Cary Town Center just a few minutes away on Walnut and Maynard. A new Lowes home improvement down a ways on Maynard and Chapel Hill rd. Neo China is great and so is Orient garden right on that corner of maynard and high house for Chinese. If you shoot up Harrison you can get on 40 very easily. If you have pets the 24 hour emergency clinic is right on High House also. Basically, that area is great and very convenient to a lot of neat stuff.

I just want to caution you on what apt complex it is? If it's Waterford, please be aware that my friend lived there and when she moved out, they were running a scam and making residents pay for the carpets even if they weren't damaged. They went in with a blacklight and said there were stains and the carpets were ruined which is BS because they looked the same as when she moved in. Just be careful of that. We lived in Harrison Grande on Harrison and Maynard and it was great and we loved it there. They have changed the name since then and I'm not sure what it's called now or if it's the same anymore.

Good luck! I'm quite jealous since I'd love to move back to that area.

Thanks for letting me know. Other than that problem, did your friend like living there? How long ago did that happen? Thanks so much!

I live off of High House between Maynard and Cary Parkway. I love the location. It's right by Weatherstone Elementary and close to the middle school. There are also lots of preschool/daycares nearby. It's convenient to downtown Cary, Crossroads, Apex, etc.

It was about 2 years ago. I have a cousin that lived there many years ago and she didn't have that problem. Yes, other than that, they were both happy there.

Thanks for the info. It seems like this is going to be a good area to live it. I am glad we picked this area. It is hard to tell from just a few days in the area!
