Hello all!

We are a young engaged couple who have spent our summer studying for the bar exam. We have been in raleigh for over 3 months now AND (here's the catch) have not gone out (except for the occasional dinner) AT ALL (and haven't even met anyone in our complex yet! ugh!

We are both in our mid 20's but i'm slowly starting to feel like my parents! HELP!

Any suggestions on fun things to do on a friday?? We like to play darts, low-key bars, etc., and definitely do NOT like the club, 100 people running into each other, too drunk to remember their own name scene.

Thanks in advance!!!

We like to go to Dos Taquito's in Raleigh and sit outside and drink margaritas and enjoy excellent food!!

Also the Carolina Ale House is always a good place to enjoy a few drinks and play pool (if you don't mind the smoke).

I've been here about a year and we really don't out to "bars" anymore. Coming from Boston we used to go out EVERY weekend...now we have much more find playing mini golf, renting a movie, or grabbing dinner out w/friends!

I would suggest you spend some quality time together doing something else, but you are not married yet

Maybe a Carolina Mudcats game?

Are you up for going to the Downtown/Glenwood South area? Our favorite pub is Tir Na Nog across from Moore Square on Blount St. There is usually some type of live music there, I think they have darts and a fun, casual atmosphere. We also like Flying Saucer, Napper Tandy's, and Hibernian (gets kind of crowded later on).

Second the Tir Na Nog idea. The place is large enough that it never feels that crowded. They have two dartboards up front. And have an excellent bar.

We have heard of Tir Na Nog! I think we just might make that place our "plan" for tonight! Thanks for the suggestions!

P.S. I think we've seen every movie that has been out in recent months, including the really BAD rentals! haha

And if you don't like Tir Na Nog, you can go a little ways down the street to the Pour House or across the street to Woody's. Have fun!

there are lots of fun things to do here, especially for young folks! i'm in my mid-20s and have lots of married friends. here's a list of a few of my faves:

ComedyWorx / iO South
ComedyWorx: Live Improv Comedy in Raleigh, NC
Live improv theater. Earlier shows are clean, later shows are like what you'll find in Chicago and are a little bit dirty or blue. Beer / snacks available.

Raleigh Downtown Live
Free, live music in downtown Raleigh every now and then. Old school bands you once loved. Good times, but gets a bit crowded sometimes.

First Fridays (art shows)
Downtown places like Art Space in Raleigh open up and have live music, art openings, etc. It's lots of fun. Look into the City Market area where Art Space is located.

NC Museum of Art
In the summer, they have live music and outdoor movies. The Young Contemporaries group is really great, too. They have events pretty regularly, so check that out.

Carolina Hurricanes Ice Hockey
I've not been to a game, but have tons of friends who are huge fans. They play in Raleigh and tickets aren't too expensive.

Durham Bulls Baseball
Tickets are super cheap and you can check out the latest updates to the American Tobacco Warehouse District. It's really cool.

MeetUp.com
If you've not seen this site, it is a way you can meet folks who share the same interests as you. There are a lot of folks that meet regularly in the area.

Rialto / Galaxy Theaters
Like indie films? These two theaters have lots that you can check out.

Let me know how things go! I've lived here since 99 and love it.

Cheers!
