Half the country doesn't pay income tax, and the middle class is struggling enough as it is. I don't think they can afford it. Maybe if we could get everyone to pay for it, like put a VAT tax on goods and services to fund it. Then even our illegal newcomers could contribute.
All the spending listed finds its way to big money donors and to the politicians via kick backs and other things. There ain't no money in taking care of things like our vets and others. That's pretty much the long and short of it.
Whenever you hear democracy used as an excuse to spend billions, just know some groups are getting wealthy.

The more we tax, the more DC spends. We don't have a taxation problem...revenues flowing into the U.S. Treasury have increased nearly every year of our lives.
Even during the "Trump tax cuts" more taxes were paid & collected. How was it a tax cut, if more taxes were paid?
We have a fed gov't spending problem, and until they fix it, no more taxes for them.
The soluton is less gov't, less taxes, and less gov't spending. We're $34T in debt, & interest on the debt now exceeds defense spending.
We dont have enough money for jack....were beyond broke.

If Romneycare was used as example for Obamacare, then instead of creating Obamacare, each state replicate and modify Romneycare as they see fit.
There are 27 members in the EU, but is there a unified healthcare plan for all citizens in the EU? No, there is not. Each EU member takes care of its own citizens. EU citizens travels their countries the same way Americans travels their states. If a Frenchman in Germany needs medical care, Germany will provide the necessary treatment then bill France. Similarly, if a Virginian needs medical care in Kentucky, Kentucky provide the treatment then bill Virginia. We do not need a national healthcare program and a new federal agency to administer. We just need cooperation among the states just like how the states are already working with each other on many issues. Citizens varies among the states so they will have different budgets for healthcare and insurance programs.

Big pharma paid millions to our fed gov't Docs in the NIH, CDC, & NAID to go along with all the fake vaccines. They called them "research grants"
Hundreds of Docs got paid huge money to shut up, and go along with the scam.
Now, the OP wants to trust the feds with our healthcare? After the feds killed ~6M of us?
Has anyone noticed all the hearings we have on Hunter, classified docs, Trump's old mistress, Joe's influence pedling, but no covid hearings?
Only 16% of Americans trust the gov't, & most of them work for the gov't...thus, nobody outside gov't trusts gov't.
Cut gov't headcount & spending by 10%/yr for the next 5 yrs, then GDP growth would explode, & blow past China.
Get gov't out of healthcare totally, & watch costs plummet, a care improve.
