Most cities can barely afford to maintain their existing water piping infrastructure but now comes this from the Biden camp:

WASHINGTON -- Most U.S. cities would have to replace lead water pipes within 10 years under strict new rules proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency as the Biden administration moves to reduce lead in drinking water and prevent public health crises like the ones in Flint, Michigan and Washington, D.C.

at a cost of - what? trillions?

he Biden administration has previously said it wants all of the nation's roughly 9 million lead pipes to be removed, and rapidly.

How does this affect Black and Hispanic people but not Whites ?
Getting rid of lead pipes is fixing racial injustice.
Equity at work.

But the infrastructure bill only allowed $15 billion.

Our government can foot the bill to rebuild Ukraine's grid and water system
To the US....suck it up and pay for it yourself.

I guess because blacks and hispanics live in old areas that were built when lead pipes were still used. Whites and Asians live in new areas that were built after lead pipes were banned. Seems to be the logic they're using.

There are Whites still there today. Why are they excluded ?
This lead pipe issue isn't new and isn't confined to minority neighborhoods.

It comes across as if only Blacks and Hispanics are drinking water laced with lead and Whites aren't.
Do cities have segregated water systems ?

I have no idea about the quality of this study, but even if their numbers are significantly wrong, the cost of replacing lead pipes would be well below your “trillions”. Beyond that, not surprisingly, your outrage completely ignores the potential health benefits and related cost savings that would occur by removing the lead pipes.

A new report from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) suggests that the U.S. could save an estimated $786 billion in health-related costs over the next 35 years if it replaced all lead service lines for drinking water.

The report estimates that the national cost of removing all lead service lines would be in the range of $46 to $56 billion, or $5,000 to $6,100 per lead service line removal.

were you, by chance, a drinker of this lead-tainted water?

Well if it only costs $56 billion why didn't the Infrastructure bill pay for it ?
That bill only allocated $15 billion for this effort yet gave Ukraine $47 billion to fight covid.

We spent a trillion dollars on "infrastructure", yet they couldn't fully fund the removal of all lead service lines?

Further proof that calling it the "Infrastructure" bill is just covering up a lie....

They just did my house, along with the rest of the city; this one has already been funded.
