How long do Tesla batteries last? I know that IC engines and transmissions last a very long time. Transmissions would be comparable anyway. Surprisingly, one of the Tesla motors was prone to requiring rebuild due to the motor bearing cooling seals failing.

When it comes to supply chains for the electric vehicle industry, China is far ahead for the number of batteries and EV cars that it produces. It's also cornered the market on the minerals, metal, cathodes and anodes that go into batteries.
The west has sold itself out for profit. I will never own an ev with a Chinese battery. Nothing they build is of reliable quality. Many universities have outlawed scooters because these Chinese batteries are catching on fire. I don’t know how we get out of this mess but we need to. I think drilling for more fossil fuels in the short term and investing in hydrogen technology might be one way to do it.

We tried to invade Afghanistan but failed.

That country is loaded with minerals we need for EV batteries

I really wonder if Tesla won't end up becoming a battery and general EV technology supplier to legacy auto makers. They are the only American company producing their own battery cells, as well as packs (AFAIK anyway).
