State to toss speeding tickets written while cops sped past | The Today File | Seattle Times

Numerous cops headed to a 'drug recognition conference' in Chelan, WA, (approx. 180 miles east of Seattle), were guilty of speeding, but one after another was let off the hook by an 'emphasis' unit that was monitoring overhead in aircraft. A youtube blogger recorded the whole thing.

WSP has had to ignominiously announce that non-cops who got tickets in this 'emphasis' patrol will now be off the hook. Precious little commentary needed--this video/audio speaks for itself:

The video, and especially audio portion, pulls back the veil and how the police operate and think. I think we all knew it, but this makes it beyond dispute.

My daily commute is partly on a state highway that leads to the 'Regional Justice Center' here. I am often passed by cop cars from jurisdictions all around the Seattle area, doubtless on their way to or from court. They almost always drive in the HOV lane alone. OK fine, the law exempts them from that, although I'm not sure why it should when they are out of their patrol jurisdiction. But they also almost always violate the speed limit by 10-20 mph. I can gauge it pretty well, since I tend to drive exactly the limit in the right lane.

Does the fact that police also sometimes violate traffic laws justify someone (my self included) else ignoring them?

When a policeman is found guilty of assault should non police guilty of assault be given a pass?

You missed the point entirely. The point is LE can violate the law with impunity.

Here is another one. This is why so many people either distrust or even hate LE.

It's time to hit the reset button on police actions in America. Between excessive force, deadly force, and a general disregard for the law, it's time for a Wrecking Ball to knock them down a few notches. I support a conservative-led Department of Justice effort to crack down on police departments all across this nation.

More cops getting away with murder and investigating themselves. Disgusting. And they all do it, every damn one. They're all lawless thugs.
