While the general thoughts on the new airport security procedures are appreciated, in order to keep this thread relevant to NOVA, let's hear from more people who have recently flown on any of the area airports (DCA, IAD or even BWI). Thank you.
That's one for the books, people. Anyway Marie, do the general public a favor and please don't fly anymore. I won't care about your safety if you don't want me to, but I very much care for the safety of others and so should you.
Please do explain how this makes us safer? You've got government agents molesting people and you call that safer? The last time I went through at DCA was just before this all started getting attention, and even then it was intrusive. Surely all the brilliant, highly educated people in our government can come up with something better than this.

I've flown out of both National and Dulles. IMO, I prefer the security procedures at Dulles. It seems to move more freely there and is not as intrusive to me. I got selected for the full scan earlier this year (when it was being done randomly, not to everyone), and it didn't seem like a big deal. I can sympathize with frequent fliers who don't want regular radiation exposure, however.

Sorry you don't agree with me.... Many many people in this country object to the current developments in airport "security." Most of us also do not believe that the measures in place are really protecting us, or that they are the most effective measures possible, but rather that they are the kind of response to public sentiment that puts on a good show but doesn't actually do what its supposed to do.
...how about if you don't worry about my safety and I don't worry about your loss of freedom and privacy.

I see my message was deleted above as "off-topic." What I'd posted was a long line of "!!!!!!!!!!!!" in reaction to those scanner pics. That is certainly on-topic b/c, wow, I had no idea they were so revealing. That is frightening and yeah, I think I'd be less likely to fly if I could help it if this would become the norm.
Went through the scanner at DCA last Thurs (11/11). It was a piece of cake, the agents were kind, and I was done in about 5 seconds. I'm all for the added security. If you don't like it, then don't fly!
I wonder what how the TSA head, politicians, and lawmakers would feel if they, their wives, daughters, etc. had to go through these full-body scanners themselves. I bet it's nice though that they get to walk right on through airports without waiting in line, going through scans/body pats, and stroll right up into their private jets.
It's pretty stupid too that the one guy that objected is facing a fine of $10,000 for refusing to do the scan and leaving the airport.
