Not many cities are affordable it seems. Pittsburgh, Memphis and Birmingham are it. Guess we still are cheap.

Yeah, it makes me feel pretty good some young people can actually start building equity here in Pittsburgh. I also hope we keep building to ease the demand a bit.

I always knew you were a smart cookie.

I'm generally 100% pro-developer. I am YIMBY (Yes In My BackYard) to responsible new developments. I cringe whenever a group of NIMBY's in a place like Shadyside succeed in scuttling new apartment or condo projects because the projects will be "too tall/too dense for a city" or "we already have too much housing".

We need a lot more residential development of all types in the city and suburbs alike. As for the suburbs I'm not a fan of clean-cutting vast swaths of forests for cookie-cutter Ryan Home communities; however, places like Meeder Farms in Cranberry or McCandless Crossing have proven to be very popular and very "in-demand". I would hope to see more of those types of suburban developments in the future.

The only way to keep Pittsburgh's housing market affordable is to greatly increase supply. Pittsburgh has the luxury of having thousands of vacant building lots just within the city proper alone along with hundreds of surface parking lots and vacant/derelict buildings in prime areas that can be reconfigured into residential or mixed-use developments.

East Liberty will continue to evolve as a residential, retail, and business center.

Thanks. That is my impression, but based on very little knowledge or experience.

Right now it is our city's downtown. Much more active. It is going back to its roots as a vibrant area with some money. I hope it continues.

Hope my post is okay. Please delete if not. Thanks.

I agree.
It will never replace downtown for sporting events and cultural programs.
