I didn't even know that a traffic study had been in progress. I just read that the cost of a traffic study and retiming had cost $74,000 and that funding was provided through the CMAQ (Congestion mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program).

I consider that it was well worth the cost. I posted in May of last year on this forum that the lights were driving me crazy. Certainly, that is not why I think it was worth the cost, alleviating my frustration isn't worth 74K, but it might be for the thousands of drivers who drive this route daily. Also, when I learned that CMAQ provided funding, I realize that there are broader environmental effects of ill-timing lights on a route with this much traffic. I had been thinking more in terms of burning up gas idling at the lights, but not so much about air quality.

Needless to say, I am happy about it. PennDOT.
