George, one technique I've seen for getting people out of a photo, if you have a tripod, is to take as long an exposure as possible while people walk in and out, it can essentially remove the people but the exposure has to be very long.

I absolutely LOVE this one!!! Took a similar shot of a passageway that seemed to go on forever like this (only darker with more shadows). Wish I could find more such places.
