politically, all self-hating jews are progressives. i've never known a jewish person, secular or religious, who didn't know they were jewish by race, but the progressive ones don't acknowledge the historical danger of that fact.

It's a logic problem with an abundantly obvious solution: While all Zionists might be Semites, I can say with certainty that not all Semites are Zionists. So even the faintest proposal that Anti-Zionism is equivalent to Anti-Semitism is fundamentally flawed.

It might be difficult for certain special interest groups to reconcile that reality with their own inherent biases, but that is their failing.

Plus the most uncomfortable fact is that one of the most fervent zionist are Evangelical Christians who believe in the second coming of Jesus when the good will be saved and the evil with perish. So who are good that will be saved you think?

Jews are 1.9% of the population. We have to take our allies as we find them. We can't be choosy.

For at least some Semites, the existence of Israel appears to them to be just the latest installment of the Crusades. To them "Zionism" is inherently evil, and being anti-Zionist has nothing to do with Semitic heritage.

Attempts by pro Zionist interests to promote Anti Zionism as being equivalent to Anti-Semitism is mostly opportunism seeking to exploit well entrenched taboos against racism in promotion of the Zionist cause

There has been a rise in all kinds of hate and violence in the US - against Jews, Muslims, People of color, Asians, GLBTQ, women.

There is a movement to equate Anti-Zionism to Anti-semitism and to pass laws as such in several countries, such as in France.

There has been attempts to make BDS illegal. Donald Trump pursued legislation that would effectively prohibit support for boycotts of the Israeli state on campus. Boycott has been an effective non-violent tool against apartheid South Africa, and in India against the British Colonial rule.
What impact would these actions, if materialized, have on:
Free speech in the US
Rise in hate.
Economy.
Elections.
International relations.
This debate clarifies many issues related to the topic. It is long but a great debate worth watching.

Motion to make Anti-Zionism as equal to Anti-semitism.
BDS is dead. Not because of anything our government has done. Because Israel makes its money off of things that nobody is willing to boycott. Their tech sector is rivaled only by Silicon Valley. There is Israeli technology in your smart phones and computers. There is Israeli technology in lasers and weapons that countries will not stop buying. There is Israeli technology in MRI machines and pacemakers. People aren't going to boycott life saving medicines that were developed by Israel's booming pharmaceutical industry either. Israel is not 1940's India, nor is it 1980's South Africa.

Since BDS started its campaign, Israels economy has skyrocketed. Their GDP is now over $500B, and growing year after year. Boycotting some Israeli made cookies in a supermarket isn't going to make even the tiniest dent in it.

Why is it that only when the Jews move to a new place, the world has a beef? Granted, there are other, more muted beefs as well. People do recognize in passing the replacement of Native Americans/First Nations by the British and French, but the moaning is less vocal than the constant, shrill attacks on Israel. I digress and note that 95% or more of the existing Native American population succumbed to smallpox and other diseases. Should 5% of the people keep 100% of the land? But these protests are reserved for Columbus Day. See below.

Why is it that only successful cultures and peoples are attacked for succeeding? Is there a whimper about Spanish and Portuguese displacement of indigenous inhabitants of Latin America, other than the annual caterwauling about Columbus Day? Is there a peep about Russia helping itself to the Kurile Islands. What about the displacement of the Ainu, Japan's forgotten indigenous people? Or China's rampages through Tibet and against the Uyghurs (sp). Any qualms about what the brutal Myanmar "Buddhist" government is doing to the Rohingyas? Or is victimization of Muslims only bad when Israel defends itself against car rammers, knifers or suicide artists?

Please, let's have some consistency. I think it has everything to do with anti-Semitism.
So all the Orthodox Jews in US and elsewhere are anti-semites according to you?

They are AGAINST the statehood of Israel - according to their Jewish religious beliefs

P.S. - some of your arguments regarding other countries are wrong -for example - regarding the indigenous inhabitants here or Kuril Islands-( Russia has their own Ainu population on their mainland, etc.)
