My dog is unhappy when we take long car rides to go on vacation. Aside from that he is spoiled rotten with trips to swim and long hikes, games at home, and home made dog food.

We're retired, he gets plenty of attention. The end of this year, we will be getting him a sibling to take some pressure off ourselves.

I have two dogs and a cat, and they give a good impression of happy little creatures. They're fed well, vetted, groomed and loved. All three were rescues from awful situations (Dog 1 was on a euthanasia list in some hellish shelter in south Texas; Cat was found abandoned outside a pet store in December in NY; Dog 2 was an owner surrender to a shelter and was nearly euthanized). All three are currently napping on my couch.

I call BS on this article.
