Labs are often overfed and are allowed to become overweight, due to their blatant enjoyment of treats, hearty appetites, and endearing behavior towards people.
how can you NOT want to feed a lab treats? they just are so sweet!!!!
My bloodhounds and my English setter are all in perfect shape.
Now we got 2 of 4 cats that are way overweight and that is how we got them.
1 is a 16 pound orange tiger that is 14 years old and a Katrina victim, the other is a 5 year old grey calico that was needing a new home before put in a shelter.
Ready to put these cats in a roll cage and let dogs bark til they exercise and lose some.
cody is probably 2 pounds over weight, but I'm comparing him to our agility friends mini aussies.
If we take him to my moms we don't feed him because she treats him like a grandchild. =)
Shadow is just on the edge. She is almost 5 and has started to slow down (FINALLY!). She will eat almost anything and both my husband and his mother fall for her "Aren't I the cutest thing ever?" face every time.
Mickey at age 8 still flies around the house/yard most of the day.
I think what helps us is the treats we use here. Mostly freeze dried shrimp or rabbit or mouse. Not too many calories or fat.
I'm in denial! The vet says my Pug is about three pounds overweight, but she doesn't look overweight to me at all. Oh well, she's on a diet for now and neither of us is happy about it.
I might be overweight but my critters remain slim...that's hard with 2 couch potato's!!!!
My cat is an indoor/outdoor lady who comes and goes as she pleases, during the winter she porks up and during the summer she slims down to deal with the heart.
Bella(boxer/lab mix) is about 3#s overweight right now. She is almost 6, has slowed down quite a bit and tends to put on a couple of pounds in the winter. This is the only time of year she acts as if she is starving. The rest of the year she is slim and could care less about her food. She does like getting treats, but only gets a couple a day, as she has a pretty sensitive stomach.
