My dad passed in 1997. None of the pictures I have appear to be from that area but I will check the photos again. I have a few letters to my mom from the time he was there (Late Oct and Nov 1945). His letters describe waiting for, and the delays related to his return to the USA.
I've only recently looked into Camp Callas and my search lead me to your inquiry here. I am new to this message board - feel free to direct message me too.

My dad was there! And I have several pictures. Are you still interested? I'm currently looking for the exact spot to geotag the entrance gate to the camp. Do you have ideas on where this is located on google earth?
If you have not seen them before, there is some info and pictures about Camp Calas (spelled with 1 L) at these links, found with Google search. There are probably more if you search using CALAS.
Regarding Camp Calas.
My father returned from Camp Calas in Marsailles in Nov 45. I have 3 very large photos, 2 kind of ok, but the 3rd has a lot of detail. I will be glad to send to anyone interested.
Dad was with the 552nd Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company Tank under Patton in 3rd Army. His unit landed Omaha, 15 Jul 44 and headed East through Lux and into Germany. He was in Heavy Recovery Section on the M25 Tank Transporter and 10 ton Wreckers. Their job was battlefield recovery of damaged armor.

Just getting my hands on my Dad's Army journal. On Sept 15 1945 he writes.. Laying around the Calas staging area . 80 jets. That's it- no pictures. My Dad was in the 5th army. his journey started in Oran Algeria, NA on Sept 2 1943.
8 years late, but a definitive location of the Camp Calas rubbish dump.
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but for anyone interested I've stumbled across the likely location of the WWII US Army rubbish dump at Camp Calas in France. My grandfather was there at the time, and took quite a few colour slides of the area, including one of a line of US Army Mack semi trailers dumping containers of rubbish into a burning waste tip area. I've been able to pinpoint the exact geographical prominence that this rubbish dump was located on.
That dump area is located precicely here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5X16QAPhqJuBWfWz6
Coords: 43°28'17.0"N 5°17'43.6"E
Unfortunately for archaeologists, it's in the exact same spot as a present-day National Fire Officer's Academy.
Incidentally, there is a modern commercial rubbish tip on the site of Camp Calas, but it does not overlap the original rubbish tip location.
