Not much. First through third grade at St. James elementary (Episcopal) in Newport Beach. Second half of freshman year at Newport Harbor High. Orange Coast College when it still had a football team and a marching band.

Great for morale and a well-rounded educational experience. Back in the day (early 60s) there was money.

How the mighty have fallen!

Who needs morale at grades 13 and 14?

Anyway, for some reason (probably because I didn't go there until I was in my thirties) I left out Saddleback and UCI, where I earned the ever useless degree in English... but I'm a hell of a grammar nazi in forum life, so I guess it wasn't for naught.

Since when are there grades 13 and 14?

Sounds like somebody had a "morale lifter" today.

You're not familiar with that alternate name for JC?

I haven't "lifted my morale" in close to three years... dammit. Need to change that situation. Claim Jumper, here I come. Start pouring the Long Islands, I'll be right over.

How many here are old enough...?

A. To have gone to school back when the individual student desks in class were wooden, had lift-tops for putting your **** in, and had a hole in the right hand upper corner of the top.

B. To know what that hole was for.

I had lift top desks, but don't recall a hole. That said, my son's school(which I attended) was built at least 60 years ago and is just now getting A/C installed. That desk I had may have been an original and double my age as a child.
