The Lighter the color the LESS Safe, Darker the color, the MORE safe

How accurate is this map in you view? If you point to the specific area it tells you the Cross Streets. When replying about any section, can you please name it how they titled that particular cross-street section so i know exactly which one you are referring to? I've never been to Omaha so this will help greatly.

I used the same site to look up areas in my town and i've noticed that when the area is newer that Neighborhood Scouts likes to error to safety so rates it as Light blue/Less Safe even tho it's the type of neighborhood that is incredily safe.

Thank you very much!!

I find its pretty accurate. Most of far east/north omaha I would personally stay away from.

What about these three: Bellevue, Papillion & La Vista? (if you click on Satellite in the right top corner then Labels, it then shows street names.)
Bellevue: Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed
Papillion: Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed
La Vista: Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed
Thanks so much !!

Those 3 areas are pretty much the only areas I would personally live in now a days with my kids, and when we move back to the Omaha area, those are the only 3 areas I'll be looking. Maybe Millard too.

What do you think of the area west of the 680 and north of 6?
I don't have kids but i like to be safe, sleep with 1st story windows open, leave garage door open etc without fearing too much. I'm not foolish, i know that anything can happen anywhere, but i want to live in an area where chances are that it won't.
Thank you

I dont really know that area to really advise you that well. From what i know from other people living there, they all seemed to like it. But, for what you're looking for, most of bellevue (maybe not the side closer to South Omaha), papillion and lavista i'd feel safe leaving my garage open.

For a more detailed look try this site crimemapping.com. Even in safe areas property crime happens. I wouldn't be leaving my garage open at night in the city. You are just asking to be a victim that way. It's a city and things do happen. It's not "Mayberry" after all.

This link will show you Omaha's crimes by the week.

I have to say I find it at least partly inaccurate. It says my neighborhood in South Omaha, near Bellevue is on the unsafe side, yet serious crime is almost unheard of. I can only think of 6 shootings in the last 30 years (and only 2 of those were within 1 mile). I myself would rather live on the east side than the speedway known as west omaha where you risk being hit by speeding cars even stepping out your door. I just don't see how people can live out there.

I can't remember ever having a shooting in any of the areas i've lived. My current condo complex had a boyfriend who held his girlfriend as a hostage at a gun point but never shot her or anyone. Turned out he was really drunk and mentally disturbed. That was big news in my town. I guess 6 in 30 years isn't bad but i'd prefer to live where there are no shootings at all if possible
