Someone just told me that they saw this question on Jeopardy recently. "Which Oklahoma town is known as 'Little Chicago' for it's drug use?" Answer-Chickasha. I know Chickasha has a drug problem just like every other small town in Oklahoma and I do think maybe it's worse in the South Western part of the state. However, in all my years in Oklahoma, I have never heard Chickasha called that. I even googled it and didn't find anything to confirm it.

Is Jeopardy making up questions now?

To be honest, I really doubt that question was on Jeopardy. I don't think the producers would malign a city like that, stating there was such a "drug problem" in Chickasha.

BTW a lot of those meth labs in southern OK have been shut down. There was a special on meth in OK (Crystal Darkness) on TV last night.

I doubted it too, but the person I who told me wouldn't make it up. She just mentioned it because she saw it recently and is from near Chickasha.

Yeah, when you only have local stations, you know about the special that was on last night.

SOME of the labs have been shut down. They have not made a dent in the overall problem yet.

Actually, there IS a small town in Oklahoma known locally as "Little Chicago", but it's not Chickasha.

It's Wewoka. I heard it called that a long time ago, but that was inside prison.

when i was growing up, it was Lawton that was called that... because of all the murders and drugs, before the tornado that tore downtown up.

I talk kind of fast. So when people ask me where I am from I tell them Checotah. And when they would say "oh I bet it was a culture shock moving down here" or "I bet the summer kill you here" I knew they thought I was saying Chicago. But on a side note, I go to Chicago a lot and think it is a great city.
