Curious. Has anyone heard anything more about the license plate redesign for Oklahoma in 2009? I read on KTUL's website in Tulsa, that these are the six design choices that will be finalized and then posted on the Oklahoma Department of Tourism's website for voting on by the public. The winner chosen, of course, being the new design for Oklahoma plates for years to come.

I might be biased since I'm Native American, but I really like the second design. Then #1 and #3 and then #5. Nothing against cowboys, but it looks strange having him on the plate and then 'Native America' below it. Will Rogers would be alright. Any one have any info as to whether a new design has been chosen?

I think Will Rogers was at least half Native American or maybe 3/4, not sure. But, I do like the second one best as well. I am a HUGE Will Rogers fan though.

Hmmm... According to the State of OK website: Welcome to Oklahoma's Official Web Site

The new plate has been chosen...
Quote:
The new plate features the Sacred Rain Arrow sculpture by Oklahoma artist Allan Houser (1914-1994).
Guess we missed the voting...

Yes #1 was chosen by the OK Tax Commision I believe. Of course we didn't get to vote and I imagine if the people of Oklahoma would have been given the option to vote, #1 wouldn't have been it.

It's weird, I like how it's off centered because it's unique and not many other states have something like that. But at the same time I hate because it's off centered. If I were to vote I would have went with #2 or #6. Both have a little taste to them and aren't tacky.

Did they just post results today? Wow.

And since the Sacred Rain Arrow was chosen, is it #1 or #2? Aren't they both the Sacred Rain Arrow?

EDIT: Nevermind. I saw it on the website. :P

I was actually rooting for number 1. I hear they start distributing on January 2. I may just wait the extra 2 days from when mine expires to get a new one.

I actually really like #1. I wish all of the license plate had the sky blue and not just the left side of it, however. Still, it is a pretty cool license plate and is just another way that differentiates our great state.

Will Rogers would have been great as well.
