I'm gonna move out west soon to be closer to family and Woodward seems pretty nice. Would it be a good fit for me? All I want is a nice little town that gets lots of sun, summer nights cool enough to where you can open a bedroom window to sleep comfortably, and doesn't have mosquitoes.

Woodward is ok but it is...

A) Pretty isolated from the rest of the state.
B) Gets the worst of the weather in Oklahoma as far as wind, ice and snow.
C) Is boom and bust with oil and gas.
D) It's not much for scenery or recreation. There is a shallow
E) If you don't live near water there won't be mosquitos in the hot part of the summer there to speak of but... you ain't sleeping "comfortably" at night with the windows open on very many nights.

But it is mostly really good people in Woodward. That is the part of Oklahoma that is like Kansas. There is some riff raff there but not like you get in other Oklahoma towns.

It is about 15K-20K (depending on drilling activity) but it has a service area that is larger than that because it is the only town in the area. The next larger town is Enid which is about 60 miles distant. It's a pretty good haul to OKC from there so most people go to Enid to eat and shop if they can't get what they want in Woodward.

I bet you can open the bedroom window in Woodward during many spring and fall nights but not for summertime. Anyway, Woodward is nice for not looking as poor and rundown as the towns in southeast Oklahoma. My guess is that Woodward doesn't have as many mosquitoes as towns in southeast Oklahoma. Enid is closer to being 90 not 60 miles away.

Woodward has the movies for now. Enid does not. The AMC there closed.

So have you decided Woodward is it? If not, you may have to settle for some town at a high elevation in New Mexico to get the cooler summers.

Oops. Hit the 6 key instead of the 9 on my distance to Enid. Must have been thinking about that Beatles song.
