It is now up to the federal government to address.

The designation of these lands as reservations is really limited to the purposes of federal criminal law.

And this is according to American treaties that were drafted and signed by Americans that have been essentially ignored (as is custom) since they were signed. This isn't some sneaky, anti-American coup by Native Americans.

The confusing part of this is that the nations were broken up into allotments per the 1887 Dawes Act. All that land is a patchwork of ownership with Indians owing precious little of it anymore.

And correct, Gorsuch I believe clarified this was an established promise made by government back in the day.

The court case has to do with federal courts and jurisdiction. The natives cannot just claim land or control of half of Oklahoma.
