Republican Oklahoma state Sen. Don Barrington has drafted a bill to ban masks, hoodies and other face coverings that hide one’s identity in a public space.

Okla. Lawmakers Weigh Hoodie Ban - The Root

The government has gone too far in stupid laws passing. Maybe they are going to ban Halloween in Oklahoma the next step?

It happens every year. Some legislators, maybe even the majority of them, just aren't good at governing. This is the same legislator who said he's against legalizing marijuana in Oklahoma, because his church members are against it. I wouldn't be surprised if his church members agree on this one as well.

I'm sure the pastor described a hoodie so his congregation could unerstand the perils of hoodies.

I reread the article and hoodies were not even mentioned in the bill. Those who protested thought it could be interpreted if a person was wearing a hoodie or some other covering and said person could be arrested.. Like so many other items published it was totally misrepresented in the news. Another case of not verifying a story so as to excite the liberals over perceived evils of the conservatives.

No, this is a case of someone writing a very poorly written bill that amended a decently written anti-KKK statute. It allowed for police departments to construe, with no great leap, that if someone wears the hood up on a hoodie and not at a foo'ball game or other celebratory event, they are breaking the statute.

He deserves ridicule from both sides of the aisle on this one.

Yes. It's as I wrote. The bill does NOT mention hoodies. The newspaper article states the bill includes hoodies, but the bill did not include hoodies. I think the report needs to be true and not doctored up to say what wasn't said. The published report is a lie.

Then what is wrong with the current law? Doesn't it allow for an additional charge to be tacked on when someone commits a crime while wearing any face covering?

This makes sense. Just wearing something that may cover some of the face on a cold day does not mean that you are planning to go rob someone.

I can see the thought process now......Guy is gonna stick up a bank, gets ready to go. Has a gun, has a bag to put the money in. Has a stolen car to get away in. got his mask and hoodie on......oh no! The hoodie is illegal! Oh well, never mind.......guy goes back to watching Jerry Springer and thanking God that he lives in a state that is suing Obamacare................
