Im moving to Ada for grad school at ECU and I need a place to live. I've looked in the Ada Evening News and found only a couple listings. I've also tried searching for apartments on line w/limited results. Anyone know where I can get more information? Or know a good apartment complex?

Default housing search

It seems a lot of rentals never get listed in the Ada paper, or anywhere else. I have lived in Ada 2 years and am looking again for a rent house. I am thinking about placing an ad for 'seeking rent house'. I have been told some real estate companies offer rentals. Don't know about apartment complexes, I have only heard bad reports on those, but maybe some good ones. I used to always have better luck renting apts in small complexes. This town needs something like Craigslist. Good luck for sure....

Try driving around Ada to look for For Rent signs. That's how they often rent houses in Stillwater.

Mostly driving around and looking for random rent places is best in Ada. Nobody seems to be smart enough to list them in the paper or otherwise.

At the southeast corner of campus there is a nice complex that I lived in in the early '90s. I can't remember the name, but it was a great place to live and very reasonable. It is bounded on the west side by College Street.

Another perspective is in a college town, the renters will come to you, no need to spend money on an ad.

In my college years, I always preferred to drive around town and look for myself.

Thanks for the note of encouragement. That's exactly what I HAVE to do. Hopefully it will go quickly. I don't want to have to unload the truck to storage and then move it again. We will hit and drive town with a vengeance. As a last resort we'll have to go to a realtor. Or maybe pay overage on the truck rental and decorate and live in it for a while!!!!

Hiya - I just got a rent house in Ada after a few weeks of looking.

Certainly, look for signs in yards.

I called all the numbers on landlord list given to me by local realtor, seems the same list passed around by all. Many outdated numbers, got a few callbacks. The places I looked at from that were all wrecks.

I started watching the online Ada evening News classifieds. - note, they are not up all the time (what's up with Ada Evening News?). What I did was check the online ads from early morning on. The print version doesn't hit till late afternoon or evening. When I saw an ad of interest, I would drive out right then and if I liked it, called the landlord right then to meet, and offered deposit right then.

Some landlords will want to take apps and call you back(not).
But the lady I dealt with was happy to rent to me and get the process over with.
They get mobbed and it must be quite the headache for them.

Competition is fierce and you have to be fast and jump on any place you like.

Lotta wrecks out there. What's with many Ada landlords? they don't even clean a place before showing it and after renting it out! I've talked to people and they said they had to clean the places before moving in, and still be liable for security/cleaning deposits. Many places in need of an overhaul, just half-assed.

Landlady I found was good tho, so not ragging on all landlords by any means. I'm sure many tenants are no prize.

Sometimes rent houses have to be sprayed for fleas because a previous tenant had a dog or dogs with fleas.
