Will be visiting Oklahoma City for a couple days. Staying close by the Cox Convention Center and will not have a car. Will spend one day on foot seeing the Myriad Botanical Garden, the art museum, and the OKC National Memorial and Museum. Will likely explore Bricktown on foot in the early evening. For the second day, will take the #18 bus (likely from 4th and Gaylord) to the Capitol Building and history museum, then further up to the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum, then back downtown. Will also likely take a #12 bus from West Main and Walker to Cattleman's Steakhouse and back that evening.

Am thinking it's unlikely I'll encounter serious safety issues on this itinerary (I'm used to urban areas and public transit, and have traveled extensively while taking usual reasonable precautions) but would appreciate some thoughts if I'm really missing something problematic. Have found little reliable information online about unsafe areas in the city.

Thanks.

I stroll downtown on foot often (alone and with company) and have never had any problems.

It would be an absolute fluke if something happened to you. The bus will be taking you through the rough places on your way to your destinations. The walk to Bricktown should be fine as well.

We have walked from Cox Convention Center area to Bricktown and never felt threatened. It is only three short blocks and there were lots of other people walking.

Personally, I would take a cab from the State Capitol to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, but that is just me.

Enjoy your trip.

We have friends who live in Bricktown. Absolutely no concerns.

Western Heritage was a big disappointment for us yesterday.

Yiu may want to stop at an OK visitor center to pick up admissions discount coupons - the folks at Edmond are simply delightful. Groupon!

I would be hard pressed to name a City that I think is safer to walk around in than OKC. Unless your name is Kevin Durant maybe

The only problem you might have is if you wear burnt orange (Texas Longhorn gear), but other than that you'll be totally fine.

OK City is a very very safe place. Enjoy.

I have never been there. I would check out the https://www.redearth.org/ or the Sam Noble Museum.

Thank you redbird. We are now at the point of being able to take day trips and this is a new luxury for us.
