I am planning to relocate in the next couple of years and the Midwest is one of the regions I am considering. I am considering quite a few states but am struggling to pick an exact area. I have also never been to any of these places before but am planning to visit and explore within the next year. So far I am looking at the following areas:

Ohio: Van Wert, Findlay, Columbus, or Brunswick.

Indiana: Greenwood (Indy suburb), Fort Wayne

Illinois: Edwardsville, Springfield

Missouri: St. Louis, Saint Charles, Knob Noster, Columbia, Springfield

I am looking for a place that offers a small town feel while still offering city amenities with plenty of country things to do within or nearby. I love fishing and hiking, and going to new parks. I am leaning towards a small city or college town, but am also open to small towns as well. Politics aren’t really 100% important to me, but I would like a place that is accepting of diversity and not crazy religious.

What can you tell me about what it is like living in the states I am considering? What are some areas I need to avoid? What are some good companies to work for in these areas?

Dont think you can go wrong with Columbus. Certainly has all the attributes your after ... traffic sucks but otherwise not really over crowded and plenty of communites in the area have a small town/suburban feel. Best of luck.
